ALWAYS use a thermal protection spray on the hair before using the flat iron. Spray it all over lightly and then again on each section. The heat of the iron will actually burn the hair and dry it out drastically. I reccommend that my clients do not use a flat iron every day and always do a weekly deep conditioner. Keep the iron only as hot as needed- NEVER on HIGH......unless you have very thick hair. Use a ceramic iron to protect hair even further. I like Matrix thermal spray but they are available from many companies.
Happy Straightening. What is the best method of protecting your hair from burning or splitting from hair straightners?
An easy way to keep your hair protected is:
1. Shampoo and condition your hair in cold water, NOT hot, because heat damages hair and causes split ends (yes, even hot water).
2. Let hair air dry, try not to use blow-dryers if posssible.
3. After hair is dried, and before using the hair straightener, apply the Healthy Blackberry %26amp; Bergamot Strengthening Treatment (http://www.rusk1.com/products/sensories//a> spray to your hair.
4. Continue with straightening your hair, using this spray every so often.
5. Once hair is straightened, brush hair and hairspray your hair very lightly with whatever hairspray you prefer.
6. Apply a deep treatment conditioner* once a week, every week, until your hair is repaired. This will make your hair soft, shiny, and repair split ends. (*Use this after hair is shampooed and conditioned and leave in at night and rinse in the morning).
7. Your done!
Hope this works! (:What is the best method of protecting your hair from burning or splitting from hair straightners?
I put a leave-in-hair treatment, over night and then wash it out the next morning and it works for me. You can also just leave conditioner in your hair instead of buying one of those treatments. That's actually what i normally do.
