What Plates On Hair Straightners Are The Best?

I keep hearing about so many different types and im confused to which ones would help keep hair straighter and smoother for longer. Please help.

xWhat Plates On Hair Straightners Are The Best?
well there are many different kind of plates, ceramic coated plates which are pretty crappy, solid ceramic which are the best around , tourmaline is a gem which they crush and add on to the plates it makes hair smoother and doesnt dry it out as much, also there are ionic which emit negative ions which stops static and flyaways and then there is infra-red which straightens the hair from the inside out so it seals in the moisture! What Plates On Hair Straightners Are The Best?
Ceramic!
Ceramic.GHD are definately the best available, pricey, but well worth it.
CERAMIC!!! they are better for your hair not as much damage and just better over all. they are more expensive but its worth it.
ceramic.

I have got GHD Straighteners, they cost me 拢90 and they are THE BEST. you can get them off eBay for a little cheaper than that.

Hope i've helped =]
cermic
Ceramic.
Ceramic, Heat up faster, Heat up the most, straighten your hair better and leaves it looking naturally straight x
ceramic are probably the best because they prevent heat damage to your hair, but still, to keep it smooth use a straightening serum and good repairing shampoo and conditioner ;]
I have glass plates and they are the best ive ever used!!!

I would recommened them to anyone!!!

xXx
The best plates are the ceramic. Not only do they heat up faster and are hotter once they are heat up but they are a lot more effective. Your hair is softer, silkier and shinier.
ceramic are the best, despite the hype around GHD's, these are some of the best: http://www.body4real.co.uk/product.php?p鈥?/a>
Ionic are best

Girls, what other brands of hair straightners are just as good (or close to) as a GHD but cheaper?

I already have straight hair BUT i want to just do 'flicks' on the ends of my layered hair. So really i wouldnt be using it on all of my hair. Just the ends of it where i want to do the 'flicks'. What other brands of hair straightners are just as good as a GHD?Girls, what other brands of hair straightners are just as good (or close to) as a GHD but cheaper?

look there =]Girls, what other brands of hair straightners are just as good (or close to) as a GHD but cheaper?
You should get the Sedu ceramic hair straightener. OMG I cannot live without it! It makes my hair feel smooth and healthy. I bought it for around $110 at Ulta. The product is totally worth the price. :D

CHI hair straighteners, I've heard, do straighten their hair, but after a couple months of usage, it will break. So, if you want to save money, DEFINITELY get the Sedu.
i have a

jil bere de paris 'tourmaline series' flat iron

it gets over 400 degrees, has red plates, and was $90 (kinda cheap) at sally's

it works very good for me. considering that i have corbin bleu hair lol
get a chi.

conair sucks.

i have a chi but i used to have a conair.

chis are better for your hair than most straighteners
i think it's called h2d..? the one thats similar to GHD

Are you allowed to bring hair straightners as carry on?

I'm not going to use it on board or anything, its just i would die if they took it off meAre you allowed to bring hair straightners as carry on?
As long as it fits in the carry-on bag, I'm sure they will let you have it. It's no different than a hair-dryer, and plenty of people take those on with them. I guess it all depends on the flight and airport. Are you allowed to bring hair straightners as carry on?
Hi, If possible try and put it in your main luggage - wrapped in a jumper or something to prevent possible damage. But I just recently had to take mine on board with me on my way home from our holiday as it just wouldnt fit in my main luggage and it was fine.. they had no problems with it. They asked to check my bag (after putting it through the xray) and when they seen it was my hair straightener they let me go..

Good luck!
You cannot take any liquids on board except 3 oz on a small bottle. Check the TSA web site.

Edit: I guess I don't know what a hair straightener is. I thought it was a spray. The web site is still very informative.
when i was on board, i was allowed, i used it and the flight attendant didnt say anything.

How Do You Use GHD Hair Straightners To Make Your Hair WAVY?

...i have the slim GHD straightners, not the 1s with the large plates. Thanks [=How Do You Use GHD Hair Straightners To Make Your Hair WAVY?
i jsut blow dry my hair and brush it it works lik a charmHow Do You Use GHD Hair Straightners To Make Your Hair WAVY?
more difficult with the thin plates but not impossible, take a section of hair, and curl from the bottom up around 2 fingers to make a coil, take out fingers %26amp; hold the coil and place between plates, hold there for a few seconds and release

the smaller %26amp; tighter the coil, the tighter the curl
Hello,

Use thermal protecor then put the iorn as close as possible to your scalp. Twist clockwise for 180 degrees and pull very slowly down towards your ends. Remeber, the bigger the sectons or more degrees you trun the different the curl will be.

Kristabelle
Well then, if u wanna burn ur hair, go ahead, coz those flat irons already burn ur hair when u use them normally, but if ur gonna curl ur hair, theyre gonna be stuck to the hair 4 a long time to make the curl, and then ur gonna burn ur hair, Get some tongs.
i had trouble with this for a while but they have a video on their website. But you can grip the hair and hold it horizontallyand just turn it 90 degrees back and fourth while sliding down the hair. Sounds complicated but not really! :-)
You get a section of your hair, and tilt the straighteners on an angle while pulling it down your hair.

The best way to describe it is like as if you are curling a ribbon with the edge of a pair of scissors!
Go on www.ghd.com theres a video on there which shows you. Its hard to explain but the video is really but. There are so many different ways of doing it.You could ask your hairdresser to show you
why use a straightener when you can wet your hair before bed and braid it wake up in the morning unbraid it this will give you definite wavy hair that wont fall flat during the day
Go to the website of GHD, there are videos of how to curl your hair in different styles with the iron.
Twist your hair into waves with the straightener OR buy a curler at CVS

Hair straightners make my hair dry? Tips on how to use them?

Heyy! I have a hair style where i dont need to use hair straightners, the problem is, my fringe is curly, Im thinking of growing it abit, and straightning it to keep it straight :)

But in the past, they only seem to dry my hair!!

Tips on using them please?Hair straightners make my hair dry? Tips on how to use them?
Unfortunately hair straighteners can dry your hair....always use a heat protection spray before using them and use a weekly intensive conditioner to keep your hair in good condition.Hair straightners make my hair dry? Tips on how to use them?
use a heat protector spray
definately use protective serums/spray. and if it still seems dry go to the store and find ';silk shine spray'; it smells good and makes your hair shiny and healthy looking.
BEST PRODUCT IN THE WORLD: Alberto Miracle Mist. Comes in a cute, blue bottle and EVERYONE who straightens their hair in my school has it. It is amazing!! When you go for a shower leave the conditioner in for 5 mins. and then wash it out for 5 more. At the end of your shower rinse your hair with cold water (best tip I have ever gotten in my whole life, lol). It locks in EVERYTHING ! :)
use a protective hair serum- to protect your hair from the heat

I use something form Marc Anthony
umm well what kind of iron are you useing is it a cheap one
before using any heat on your hair you need to protect it! I suggest using Eufora shampoos and Conditioners which contain aloe to repair and protect the cuticle from the inside out, then on toweled dry hair Eufora Fortifi spray to close cuticle and protect from heat and breakage. before and after flat ironing use Eufora purepolish to protect from iron and and shine and defrizz

I always put a hair softner threw my hair and thne straighten it.
ALWAYS use a protector spray.

I use Iron It heat defense spray by Tony %26amp; Guy. You can get it in Boots and it is about 拢6.00. You dont need loads but it does help to stop your hair from getting messed up by from the intense heat of straightners.

Always run a comb down your hair in front of the straightners as this will help to seperate the hairs and give it a smoother finish.
try this, it's great when you straighten your hair a lot

http://www.helium.com/tm/698067/mayonnai鈥?/a>

good luck!
use an iron oil like s factour or ghd its really good x
Get a protectant spray to spray on your hair before straightening. It helps protect from the damage caused by the heat. Tresemme has a good one and also CHI. You can find it at any Wal Mart or Target.
I have naturally curly hair and I use a straightener to straighten my hair every other day. I use the Aveda Smooth Line. It works really well. I always use the protectant before straightening my hair and I never do it two days in a row. Aveda also makes a universal styling cream that I use on my ends to keep them from getting too dry.

  • Hair straightners: How can i protect my hair from the heaT?

Im getting hair straightners for Christmas and i dont want to burn my hair from using them, what sort of stuff do i need to protect my hairHair straightners: How can i protect my hair from the heaT?
buy heat protection spray.. from you hairdressers?

or even from the supermarket.. like treseme ?

also, try not to straighten you heair EVERY day,, i used to and my hair became VERY damaged.. i dont do it everyday now and it seems to be in better condition and is growing quicker.

hope this helps:) xHair straightners: How can i protect my hair from the heaT?
The only one that will protect your hair and give the best look is one that has ceramic plates. I was at the mall and this guy did a demonstration with the ceramic one and it was the best I have ever seen my hair!!! The only problem is that they run $80 + for a good one. Make sure to find one with ceramic PLATES not just ceramic heat.
First buy a heat protecting serum like Redkens Heat glide. If you don't already use a leave in conditioner, I would suggest Infusium 23 leave in conditioner. These two products are good in helping protect your hair. Now...

    1. If you have the time, let your hair air dry versus, blow drying it and then straightening it. No more extra added heat, and the hair is less frizzy when it dries naturally.

    2. You want the iron hot enough so you don't have to make repeated passes over the same section of hair. One good pass should do it.
There are a lot of heat protectors like Chi Silk Infusion or Aussie Sydney Smooth Styling Heat Protector + Leave-in Conditioner.

How can i get my hair straight without hair straightners or hair dryer or chamicals?

wet it down, then comb it flat and let it dry like that, repeat when ever.....hope i was help. it worked for meHow can i get my hair straight without hair straightners or hair dryer or chamicals?
brush it or comb it while its still wet it works 4 my curly hairHow can i get my hair straight without hair straightners or hair dryer or chamicals?
if you want to straigten your hair you will have to use something like a product or straigtening iron on your hair other wise try and after getting out of the shower comb your hair as straight as you can possibly get it and then let it air dry.
    u can't
Do you only brush your hair once when your hair is real wet and the next you brush is it dry? If yes! this is the reason you cannot keep it straight! Brush your hair with hair brush then comb when it is wet then as it dampens brush again with just a comb thoroughly and slow. Don't shake it or throw it after combing until it is completely dry!!!
it's about impossible to get straight hair without heat or chemicals
the only way you can do it is by shaving your head bald and then wearing a straight haired wig, how's that for gone with the wind as they would say.or better still.keep it short in such a way that so it dont start crunching into wave's or curls.good luck you can't do it unless you use some thing with chemicals and hot irons on them.
without naturally straight hair its not possible...or you could wet your hair , hold it straight and maybe spray with hairspray i cant live without my straightner
I think there are some hair relaxers that will probably help straighten it out. Even conditioners will probably help moisturize it and weight it down, but none of them will probably do as good a job as a straightener, unfortunately.
    GET A PERM 1 A MONTH.
If you don't want to use chemicals or straighteners, then there's no way you can get it straight and get it to stay that way. If it turns straight sometimes, you could try combing your hair with a fine-tooth comb while your hair is still wet and continue to comb it until it's dry. I did that once to make my hair really straight, it worked really well.
Im not I guy, (if u can tell by my avatar, but this works for me:

    1. Go buy a good shampoo and conditioner, maybe from a salon, if u can drop that much cash ( i did)

    2. Take a shower, and fully lather ur hair w/ shampoo, wait 4 minutes before washing out.

    3. Then repeat with conditioner

    4. When you get out, shake your head ( yeaaa, do the head banger)

    5. Use A/G set it straight straightener (buy it on like ebay or amazon or sumthing....or u can go to the salon again...thats were i got mine)

    6. Run the product through your hair, shake again, brush, shake, DONE

(u can subsitute the A/G straightner for another brand of relaxers.)

    luv always,

    the faboulous me
    its impossible

    I have a Remmington wet2straight from Walmart and... I like it a lot. $25 ;]
    chi straightners are pretty good.
anything that has a dial and allows you to turn heat up or down...awesome!
Its the brand you are looking for. Not necessarily the place. I got a Remmington Teflon straightener that is the best thing ever for $40 bucks at Shop-Ko.

What are the best hair straightners out there in the UK?

    FOr a reasonable price (拢100ish)

I was considering going with the stable GHD but I was wondering if anyone thinks there is anything better? What are the best hair straightners out there in the UK?
GHD's for definite! i never used straighteners before and my mate recommended them to me. before getting them i couldnt understand all the fuss, but seriously they are amazing! just don't do what one of my mates did after getting out the shower, put them on, laid them on her bed and then sat on them, not nice getting burnt by 200 and odd degree heat! Ouchhhh!!What are the best hair straightners out there in the UK?
I tried loads of them till I finally tried GHD's...I couldn't live without them..they are best by far!!
    Remington wet/dry are good too.
Cant beat GHD's i've had the same pair for 3 years and used them everyday and i cant fault them ..best money u will ever spend.
**GHDS r ThE beST OnEs OuT DeR!**
Definitely GHD's they changed my life...
ghds .....u can get sum really gd 1z 4 about 95 poundz...my frnd got sum n they r gr8 ..............n her hair stayz straight till she washz it ...
GHD are def the best on the market.
GHD!!!! I don't have em but my sis does %26amp; lends them to me, they're wicked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I have remington wet to straight, they're good too!!
    GHD
NOT GHD's as they blow up (not literally) and break to easily.. i know someone that had to replace hers 3 times!! and they are quite dangerous..

I think FHI straighteners are.. they come in pink too :) only 拢50 !!!

    xx
    GHD
    GHD. Best ever!
Swear by GHD - got mine on ebay for about 拢90. I've tried other brands but would never use anything else now.
    GHD are the best,
    GHD

    They're the best.

    period.

    :-)
    ghd

    you will never look back
i think ghd are the best. my hubby said you can buy them online for 拢69.
Id steer clear of GHD as I saw a programme about them over heating and starting fires even though they were switched off.

I would recommend 'Coraliss' hairstraighteners. They are about sixty five pounds and are available on line or in Debenhams
hiya, one of my friends uses babyliss pro 230's they are recomended by boots, my hairdressers and most sites give them 5* they heat to 230 degrees and have a temperature control so give you a choice, really good! my hair is curly and they calm my hair and straighten it really well. Much cheaper aswell.
GHD's are the best by far, go to www.HQhair.com and get them for around 拢80, that's where I got mine.
hi i am hairdresser and we dont use ghds in salon we use euro star ones from whole salers but i personally use ghds and swear they are better than our salon ones my boss wont change tho i highly reccommeng u dont use the wet dry ones tho they do more damage to ur hair and it ends up looking like kate bushes after a while happy shopping
    You cannot beat GHD.
i have ghs which are touted as being cheaper ghds.you can get them on ebay or there website for around 30 quid.

they are fantastic, have on/off switch an adjustable temp.very fast to heat up anthey do them in pink!

    would reccomend them :)

i have a crappy straighter and when i use straighten my hair it stays all day.

oh yeah use Terasame heat tamer= it minimizes damage se that when your straightening your hairr! What are some good hair straightners?
Chi all the way. It's the best there is.
HerStyler. they're pretty expensive (rangeing from $140 - $250 ) theyre made in italy and have a two year warrenty. really good. use mine everyday!
I've previously had a CHI but within one year it stopped turning on. I have thick curly hair and it's overall preformance was mediocre. I just recently purchased the babyliss pro and I would highly recommend it! It has a variety of heat seetings unlike the CHI and heats up extremely fast. I hope that helped!
    NOT CHI!

Anyone who has ever had one said it broke in 7 months or less, most have no temp dial, and they are damaging since the plates are only ceramic COATED, not full ceramic.

Sedu and Solia are the top two best flat irons sold. They are full ceramic, have a temp dial and are not very damaging.

abliyss around 150 - 200 i would not go with a conair air one they just make ur hai frizzy go to a salon and then they can show u which i s a good one i have the same type of hair i use a abyliss and it is excellent makes hair shiny
conair, the yellow one is really good
Conair flat irons are always reccommended by top selling magazines, and since I also have one, I think it's the best too. If you have super curly or even wavy hair, it straightens it really fast, and it looks natural.

Can I bring things like curling irons and hair straightners in the airport? I mean would they let me through?

My family and I were planning on going to brazil, and I was wondering if I was allowed to bring those things. Can I bring things like curling irons and hair straightners in the airport? I mean would they let me through?
    Sure you can.

The general rule is no sharp items %26amp; liquid stuff in your handbag, but it's okay in the bag which you will check in.

As for electric devises like hair curling irons and straighteners, I've never heard any rules regarding those. Can I bring things like curling irons and hair straightners in the airport? I mean would they let me through?
I would put them in your checked bagage...because if for some reason they say you cant have them in your carry on..they will just throw it away...so be safe...put it in your checked bags....honestly you might not need them in Brazil....its going to be so hot....think about it
I was flying from New York to Florida with Delta and called them and they said the hair straightener was fine to keep in your carry-on. I'm assuming a curling iron would be, also.
probably, i mean, it might depend on the airport. some might view it as a weapon if you were to heat them up.

its worth a try, i dont know, maybe asking the airport ahead of time.

  • What kind of hair straightners do professional stylists use and where can you get them?

Here you go, this is the answer that I've posted for 2 different women and they both chose it as the best one, hope this helps you out as well.

Warning: If you buy a CHI online, the 1 year warranty will not be honored, it will only be honored if purchased from a Salon.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

I answered this question for some other girl and it was chosen as the best answer....here you go....hope it helps.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

1st of all I'm not gay, but I do like to take care of my hair and look good, if any women think that there is something wrong with that, by all means please let me know, I appreciate your honesty.

Do not settle for cheap brands, theres a difference between flat irons. You want the ones that have ceramic plates, the most popular is the CHI and even though they achieve wonderful results, they break down easily and thus ruin your $100 investment. Solia, FHI, and HAI are also good but work differently depending on hair type and are slightly cheaper.

The best flat iron however is the Sedu. It has ceramic plates and uses tourmaline which is a precious stone that gives off negative ions which are good for your hair. Check out Folica.com and see all the before and after pictures....there are about 10 pages of pictures on the 1 1/2'; Sedu...or you can go for the 1'; inch if you want more control.

However, there is always the GHD with the cheapest at $190....they are excellent but it just depends on if you are willing to spend that much, by the way GHD's are Englands best and most popular iron, and in a few years they will be America's as well.

Chi's break down too much, and if you by them online, their warranty will not be honored....the CHI Turbos are even worse!!!

SEDU is the greatest...if you want proof...go to foica.com and check out the pics of the users that have sent in in the reviews of the 1 1/2' SEDU....you can also go with the 1 inch one if you like...

So at $120 and a great life span....not only SEDU is the best hair straightener as far as results are concerned, it also the best deal....

Thanks 4 all the Info. What kind of hair straightners do professional stylists use and where can you get them?
The more expensive it is the better it is.What kind of hair straightners do professional stylists use and where can you get them?
my stylist uses a ion straightener and you can get them at shally's
they usually use a chi straightener it usually ranges from 80 -160 dollars but you can get it at any salon or beauty place.
    i own a conair.

    it works awesome.

it was only 30 on sell...most of them r 60 plus..
My stylist uses a Paul Mitchell straightener, but I bought one for half the price and it works just as good. Ebay usually has a few of them on there, or if you want one for 陆 the price, Ulta carries them or folica.
Check on ebay, you can buy brand new hair straighteners from salon stores on ebay.

I bought I ';chi'; by global beauty and It works great! I have very curly hair and I can get my hair very straight with it. Mine was around $80 with shipping, but it was well worth it.
You can purchase the straightenersthey use right at the salon.
my friend got heres at a regular cvs and her hair is PIN straight. it was like only $20-30 bucks too. its revlon
I bought a Conair straightening iron at the Dollar General Store for $15. It works just as good, if not better, than the one my stylist uses.
I GOT MY STRAIGHTENER AT THE BLOCK OF ORANGE FOR 110 DOLLARS IT WORKS PRETTY GOOD...BUT ONCE U HAVE IT FOR A LONG TIME IT WORKS BETTER BECAUSE ITS SEEMS TO BE WHEN THEY ARE BRAND NEW THEY DONT WORK AS WELL...ALSO JUS BECUZ A STRAIGHNER IS MORE EXPENSIVE DOESNT ALWAYS MEAN IT IS GOING TO WORK BETTER OR BEST I SUGGEST U JUS GET AN AVERAGE COST..YOU CAN REALLY GET PROFESSIONAL STRAIGHTENER'S ANYWHERE..YOU SHOULD ASK A SALON NEAR YOU..

ALSO THE STRAIGHTENERS THAT WORK BOTH WITH DRY OR WET HAIR ARE HEALTHIER FOR UR HAIR...

What Walmart hair straightners work best on frizzy and thick hair?

Remington Professional or ANDIS. The best ones.

Im travelling to the Dominican Republic in June and want to know if my hair Straightners will work.?

I am going on Holiday to the Dominican Republic in June but have heard that not all hair straightners work out there, (something to do with the voltage) can anyone tell me which ones work or how I can get my GHD's to work?

Thanks!Im travelling to the Dominican Republic in June and want to know if my hair Straightners will work.?
lol...?Im travelling to the Dominican Republic in June and want to know if my hair Straightners will work.?
You need to buy a plug that you can get almost anywhere. Basically, it changes your 3 prong plug to a 2 prong plug. They are only about a fiver. Don't use the outlet that is in the bathroom (usually next to the light) as you can't trust them. Plug it in the room near a mirror.
I know of a discount store .. only 锟?50 .. and it also free shipping. Quickly go and see. Http://www.buy-ghdhair.net
yeah they do work..but honestly the humidity and heat over there is like not exactly uncomfortable for your body but for your hair..whenever i go to Dominican Republic, i just let my hair air dry..i straightened it one night to go to a party and when i got to the party it was horrible and like poofy in a sence..i say just let it air dry..buy a nice moose or conditioner and apply it in your hair after you've showered.. it'll stay nice.
you need to buy a special connector to change voltage
YES. they work.. BUT bc of the humidity you might aswell just forget about it.. ive been there many times.. and each time i bring my flat iron..use it for a day or so and say.. heck with it..

it stays for maybe an hour tops. im a hairdresser and ive brought ALLLL the products one can imagine to keep it straight and it never works.. so i just came up with cute curly, wavy or better yet..updo styles to wear instead.. good luck tho.

I saw a Tressemme hair straightners and curlers in Tescos for arnd 拢20. are they any good?

ps the straightners and curlers are in the same set with other attachments. isnt that reallly cheap? so i had a doubt if they would work well or not.I saw a Tressemme hair straightners and curlers in Tescos for arnd 拢20. are they any good?
Well it really doesnt matter where you buy straighteners from as long as they are straighteners made by a professional or well known company.I saw a Tressemme hair straightners and curlers in Tescos for arnd 拢20. are they any good?
Well, It really depends on the type of hair you have,

If you have Sraight/Wavy Hair, its good. Anything else doesn't work. :) Hope I Helped.

And remember always use protective spray.
Tressemme stuff is utter rubbish. I've bought some of their haircare products before and they ended up in the bin!

Buy another product! Just because they claim to be a 'professional product' doesn't mean that they're any good.

How to use Canadian electronics such as cell phone battery charger, laptops, and hair straightners in India?

Can someone please tell me all I need to know in order for my laptop, cell phones, and other electronics to work in India. We use the 110 watts here while there it is 220. I am not very knowledgeable about power adapters and transformers. I would really appreciate it if someone can tell me what gadgets I need to buy here in order for my electronics to work in India, and where I can get them here. thanks a lot.How to use Canadian electronics such as cell phone battery charger, laptops, and hair straightners in India?
India's line voltage is 230V running at 50Hz, just like Europe. Whatever information you find online for Europe should also apply to power in India. Laptop is probably fine, just check to make sure that it can operate off of 100-240V. You will need a plug adapter for the plug type. Your cell phone may be incompatible with the cell phones in India. Check with your phone service provider and also get the cost to use it there. You can use a voltage adapter with the hair straightner, since that is just a heating element. Appliances with fans in them, such as a hair dryer, don't usually perform will running at 50Hz when they are designed for 60Hz. I would buy the hair dryer there.

  • Is it OK for a guy to use hair straightners?

Im 16 and when I bought my first pair my Dad laughed at me.

But my friends all like my hair and the hairdresser said that as long as i looked after my hair while doing it, it would be OK.

But none of my other male friends use them.

Just wondered what the opinion was out there! Is it OK for a guy to use hair straightners?
my son does occasionally and some of his mates use them regularly, i believe that do mens ones now. dont worry about it if yr hair looks good then that s the main thing. my mum wouldnt know about hair straighteners yr dads probably from the same age where real men dont use moisturiser and take care of themselves. personally i think the person who invented hair straighteners deserves a medal dont know how i managed without them all these years. Is it OK for a guy to use hair straightners?

What are good , yet inexpansive wet-to-dry hair straightners?

Okay, so my hair is thick and to dry it and them straighten would take a long time- and if i left my hair to dry naturally, then just forget about straightening (IMPOSSIBLE!). So i was wondering what are good but cheap ones that work well? My hair is straight after a shower and a good 'ol brush in the shower and out. So, where can i get these? **REMEMBER PLEASE- NOT EXPENSIVE YET GOOD QUALITY**What are good , yet inexpansive wet-to-dry hair straightners?
wet to dry doesnt work well. first of all the steam burns really bad if you dont use it right and whenever i used it on my hair it never fully dried it and it ended up looking frizzy. try taking a shower the night before so when you wake up most of your hair will be dry and then you can straiten it that way. What are good , yet inexpansive wet-to-dry hair straightners?
wow i think i have the same problem have u used a straighner before? because you miht be surprised at what a good straightner can do i have a wet to dry straightner im sorry i want to help and tell you the name but i bought it along time ago but its conair and its red with two traingle shaped buttons one that turns green when its all warmed up and red when its not on that one works well cuz trust me i know that when u hav poofy hair and it dries it is horrible but with the straightner after your done it looks fine you need other products to make it silky smooth duh ive never actually seen a straightner that leaves your hair looking shiny when it wasnt like that before so yea i dont think they exist hah hope this helps let me know ok
If you want to kill your hair, go ahead and get them. Straightening your hair in the first place is bad. Think of how bad it will be if your straightening and drying at the same time. Your hair will fry.
    wet2straight the brand is remington

    thats the one!!!!

    good luck=]
I thought that if you straightened your hair when wet you ran a chance of burning it. I didn't know there was anything that did both.
    there is one at walmart called wet to straight its black and im not really sure what brand it is but it works good and not expensive at all [;

Are Chi hair straightners worth the cost? What makes them so good?

I recently purchased a Chi straightener and I wanted to make sure they are worth the expense. Please let me know your thoughts. Are Chi hair straightners worth the cost? What makes them so good?
CHI straightener's are good but I would have to say I love the Paul Mitchell straightener's the best they are worth their money! They heat up in about 30 sec. and they keep their heat throughout the entire straightening process!! Very good and very worth it!!

Hope this helpsAre Chi hair straightners worth the cost? What makes them so good?
I LOVE my Chi. It makes your hair soft. I thought I would have a problem with the one temperature setting, but I don't at all. I definitely recommend it. I've tried other ones in the past, but glad I invested in the Chi. I have coarse hair, but it straightens it very well. I don't have to keep going over and over the same sections to get them straight, like I did with other flat irons. The Chi is fast and you will get lots of compliments on your hair. You can also use it to curl.
I used to love my Chi, until it broke less than a year after I got it! Shortly after that, the one my friend got for christmas broke TWO months after she got it! And the company doesn't fix the colored chi, only the originial, so you have to pay to send it to another company to be fixed.

Needless to say, I invested in a Solia :o)
    1:They straighten really fast

2:they make your hair look shiny insted of dull

3:they dont fry your hair unlike other straightners

    4:They heat up fast

5: They last a really long time

    6:The name is cool
well i think all straighteners are the about the same

you didnt waist your money but the only con is that theres only 1 heat temp.
Everything Rim said is so right!

I did once on new years eve, and they were on my glass table! Im surprised it didnt break!!Have you ever went out and left your hair straightners on?
My daughter did this many times, the last time was the worst, i only popped back home to grab my post, lucky i did, I smelled burning as I popped my head round the front door so i went into the back room and there was my settee smoking and smouldering. If I hadn't needed ID (hence collecting my mail) at the post office sorting depot I'd have had no house or guinea pigs. Shes never left them on since she saw the blackened charcoal arm of the sofa.Have you ever went out and left your hair straightners on?
Alll the time lol... and i nearly always get a bad feeling about leaving them on (even if i havent touched them lol) everyone laughs at me cos i nearly always need to phone home and get someone to check them lol.. my table is all brown marks because of them!!

Yes, I have done. But most straighteners turn themselves off after a certain time automatically as a safety feature... especially as my dressing table's wooden!
Yeah but mine turn themselves off after 30 mins anyway so wouldnt have to worry as much about a fire!
I've done that before to Lol . On my desk and it didnt do anything Lol x

Make sure you get some heat protection spray ^^ x
Ok.. I'm going to tell you what I do to protect my hair and keep volume :)

You should wash your hair using a moisturising shampoo and conditioner because straightening your hair can make your hair VERY dry. I use moisture rich Tresemme shampoo and conditioner.

After washing my hair I spray Tresemme Heat Defense over my hair (I also highly recommend an Aussie spray which can be used instead of Tresemme to protect the hair) These can be found in your local chemist or Boots, Superdrug etc. and you should spray all over your hair and then carefully brush afterwards. I also use a Pantene Pro-V mousse specifically for creating volume which you can also purchase from a chemist type strore, you turn the bottle upside down and spray a bit onto your hand and dab it here and there over your head. Don't rub it into the scalp too much or too near the front of your head otherwise your hair will become greasy. This mousse also gives you an extra lovely shine :)

Also, for extra volume, when drying your hair pick up the hair with your hairbrush and dry down the strands.. Pick the hair up from the top of the head as if you were pushing your hand up your hair.. Like they do in salons in a way.

When it comes to straightening, don't straighten your hair from the very top of your head, otherwise this will just flatten all the volume you've just expertly created! Straighten from a bit furthur down when your hair starts to hang off the side of your head.

Your hair would probably straighten best at its highest temperature, but why not try to straighten a strand at 180 degrees? And if this doesn't straighten it enough, turn up the temperature until you find the perfect temperature to straighten your hair :) if you end up using your straighteners at 230 degrees it shouldn't matter because this is still a safe temperature.

For an extra tip, after straightening, use a wax of some form. Garnier Fructis isn't bad but I tend to go for the Shockwaves range.. I have a molding wax. They can be found in supermarkets and chemist stores. Take a small amount onto the tips of your fingers, rub it inbetween your hands and apply evenly through all your hair (not on the top of your head though because this will make your hair greasy) The wax will calm down any fly-aways and hold your hair straight all day without making it greasy or waxy looking :)

Sorry it's a lot but it should help! :) x
The hair straighteners won't give you volume, but a good hair product, such as a volumising mousse, should help you achieve the look you're after.
why don't you read the directions
straighten ure hair upsidedown for added volume and use v05 miracle mist before u dry it to protect from the heat x
dont put too much heat on them if ur hair is thin, because it'll burn ur hair. and if ur hair straightner is professional like mine, it will have a temperture control meter. my hair is thick, so i have it on 25. thats how high mine goes.
It really matters how thick Ur hair is%26amp;what type ur hair is(frizzy,coarse,wavy,curly,etc.).Usuall鈥?on the box it has a graph of some sort or it tells you on the box what temp to put the straightner at .i use a hair protecter cream before i straighten my hair.use conditioner and shampoo that volmunizes and fights drieness. There are also hair creams that volmunize also.my hair is thick, frizzy, and ummm coarse,so i put mine at 450 F as the graph shows me to.Hope i helped!
you need to blowdry your hair with a big round brush pulling hair up at rather than out or down as you blowdry and tip head up then jus lightly run your straighteners over at bout 180 or if your hairs wavy or frizzy n thick 210.

Either apply some styling creme in your hair before blowdrying id recomend something volumising and this should protect your hair from the straighteners or use a straightening protection spray wen dry. hope this helps xxx

Why do so many people ask if they can bring hair straightners on an airplane?

I don't really know much about it but from what I've heard a serious negative is that when your hair grows your new hair comes through curly and looks awful compared to the chemically straightened hair you have so think about that.

If you have an ulta salon near you, go there and ask them for the chi's or for the tigi bed head rock star straightener (I have had both of these before, and they are excellent). The Chi is for perfectly pin straight hair, although it cost around 100-200 dollars, completely worth it. bed head rock star costs, i think 70 dollars and you just have to wait maybe three seconds at the ends for pin straight. What is the difference and function of 1'; hair straighteners and 2'; hair straightners?

I was shopping for hair straighteners yesterday because my old one broke finally and I noticed that most hair straighteners are 1'; now. I've always used 2'; wide plates so I'm just wondering what is the difference? I have very thick wavy hair so I assumed that wider plates would be better but now I'm curious what the real difference and function of different sized plates are. What is the difference and function of 1'; hair straighteners and 2'; hair straightners?
    i have both,

the 1'; get closer to the roots. they also straighten better.

the 2'; are way faster, but dont eliminate frizz as well.

    if you have enough time for your hair, then choose 1';

if your in a hurry, 2';What is the difference and function of 1'; hair straighteners and 2'; hair straightners?
1 inch is better for your hair, because the straightener isn't over it for as long. However with thick, curly hair you should use a 2 inch because you would need to straighten it a bit more anyway. 1 inch is mainly for girls with straight hair who want it straight-er... or for girls with curly hair who don't mind spending more time straightening. 1 inch is also easier to curl with.
The basic difference is for the length of your hair. If someone has a full - long set of locks then you want the 2';. If you hair is shorter then the 1'; is the best bet. The smaller one just makes it easier for you to get to the scalp with shorter hair.
There isn't much of a difference. If you have thicker hair, go for 2 inch. Different sizes are just better for different hair.
with 1'; you can curl hair too...other than that, there's not too much of a difference

What are the best hair straightners for mixed race? Please mixed people only?

I really want to find an excellent straightner for my hair, I am mixed with black and white, and my hair is tightly curled, and not too thick. And I need to get a straightner that will straighten my hair really good, like make it shinky and silky and straight, like I want it to look like I have naturally straight hair when I straighten it. Thanks in advance! What are the best hair straightners for mixed race? Please mixed people only?
hello im mixed race too and the best straigthtners to use are GHD they are the best. I use them on my hair and yes it takes me ages like 3 hours but they are great for getting the roots straight. The GHD 's have a slimline type there the ones I have because I have very thin hair or there are are the thicker style ones espeacially for afro hair. I wouldnt have your permanantly straightend trust me it damages your hair it is worse than peroxide. Treat your hair as unique not like black or white peoples hair. What are the best hair straightners for mixed race? Please mixed people only?
I am a parent of bi-racial kids and I have friends that have bi-racial kids. Honestly you can achieve that silky straight look with a good ceramic flat iron and good hair care products, especially a thermo protective when using the flat iron. If you really want to chemically straighten it go to a professional and have him or her to relax your hair.
OK then u need a nice cover girl straighteners they work great on my hair and i have a perm and it just works great u can find it in stores at target Walmart fredmyers all big store company's.

What are the best hair straightners to buy?

My ghds have just broken due to an unfortunate event with a toddler. I am going to buy a new set and I am wondering what are really the best option, ghds did the job, but what would you recommend thick hair for perfect straight style? Give me honest answersWhat are the best hair straightners to buy?
GHD's i don't know really another brand as gd as tht! What are the best hair straightners to buy?
    apparently ';chi'; is the best
I'm not familiar with the term ghd, but i'm assuming you are talking about a flat iron. If thats the case, save yourself 20 dollars at walgreens or target and take it to sally's beauty supply. You don't have to be licenced to buy there and they are MUCH better irons for the same price. Just be sure you buy one that at least has ceramic plates, tourmaline, and porcelain are alright too. It just makes for more evenly distributed heat, cutting down on ';hot spots';, which makes your hair burn and be damaged more easily. Definately always use a protectant when you flat iron as well. Rusk makes a line for flat ironing and the sprays are awesome, both the yellow and the orange cans are fantastic. This way if you need to turn it up a few notches you can without killing your hair to get it straight. Or try Aveda's Universal Styling creme.
    GHD!

i have thick hair %26amp; GHD makes it perfectly straight

my hairs not as thick now since i got layers but yeh GHD definetly

GHD means good hair day .. soo yeh? lol
well oviously the more expensive the better it is
    Buy another pair of ghds
    i'd recommend ';Chi';

Tip: slower you pull down the flat iron the more defined it will be. You should use thinner straighteners. And use thermal protection before hand so you dont kill your hair. I recommend Chi or Frizz-ease thermal protection. If you use ionic straighteners it will condition hair instead of killing it. good luck hope this helps

Again its to do with my Electronics courcework. Seeming as we cant create 180oC in the lab i need a more practical (if unrealistic) temp. 40oC or so will do. I need this for my 'research' so if anyone could just put 40oC as an answer i'd b grateful.

I was wondering, how long does it take for straightners to damage your hair? If you straightened your hair twice a week would this be too much? How long does it take hair straightners to damage your hair?
It's only really damaging if you do it everyday. Twice a week isn't too much as long as the straightner isn't too hot. Ceramic straightners are better for your hair then other straightners. Don't ask me why, it's just a fact. How long does it take hair straightners to damage your hair?

LIKE ANYTHING ELSE WHEN USE WITH THE PROPER STYLING PRODUCTS AND AT THE RIGHT TEMPERATURE YOU DON'T HAVE TO DAMAGE YOUR HAIR
I don't know but use V8 I think heals your hair.
The straightners damage your hair SINCE the FIRST TIME you USE it!!!!!
i have been straighting my long hair with an iron for 8 years. my hair is perfect, healthy and shiny. but i do have to trim my ends much more often
any styling done with heat will damage your hair over time. you can prevent damage by using moisturizing hair conditioner and by getting regular hair treatments to repair damage.

What is the best brand of hair straightners?

My hair is really thick and kind of wavy , so i want to be able to straighten it, but my hair dresser says that it was damage my hair. What is the best brand to use that is affordable and how can I avoid damaging my hiar? What is the best brand of hair straightners?
Well...don't spend too much money on a straightener.

I have several friends who spent at least 100 dollars on theirs and it works just as good as mine

I spent about 26 dollars on mine. And it's by CONAIR

And YES it will damage your hair.

If you want to really decrease the damage though...just buy a product that's specifically made for straightening your hair. Get a good serum...about 6-10 bucks a bottle. But, you'll be grateful that you did. Cuz you don't want to do like i did. I've straightened my hair for about a year and never put nething on it before i straightened it. And now...it's really dry and frizzy. So make sure you spend the little bit of extra money and buy a protectant.

Definitely CHi, or Remington Wet2Dry. Both are awesome, and both have their pros and cons:

    PROS

CHi: skinny, comes with deffirent plates, gets really hot, stratightens quickly

Rem.: Comes in skinny and fat, skinny comes with different plates, adjustable heat, can be used with wet hair.

    CONS

Chi: Gets really hot, and burns really bad. More expensive.

Rem.: Can get burned by steam by the steam outlets, if you are not being careful.

    hope this helps! =]

My hair straightners have been left on my sofa on and left a orangey mark? How can i remove the mark?

The mark is sort of rusty looking and has only affected the light cream colour on the weaved fabric. Is there any way to either remove the mark or dye it back to its original colour? My hair straightners have been left on my sofa on and left a orangey mark? How can i remove the mark?

i dont think you can do much, it sounds like you've singed the fabric
you might try a bit of club soda on a damp sponge let it sit a few minutes then blot it with a soft cloth
tide to go, I bet it works... the thing does magic... give it a try if that doesnt work you might have to shampoo it..

    Good Luck

i would say the fabric has been burnt/singed.....you will need to have the cushion effected reupholstered

Yeah! The Solia brand is really good! I am glad I could help.

they make ur hair super super straight BUT dont do it too often because u can FRY ur hair and it wont grow no more
If your hair is frizzy, straightening it won't help. You need to put some anti-frizz cream with your hair is still damp from the shower.
Hair straighteners are the same thing as permanent waves except you comb the hair out straight and at a certain point you have to put a neutralizer on the hair to stop the chemical process.

The problem with permanents and straighteners is that if you do not neutralize the chemicals then you can lose your hair because the solution that bends and straightens the hair is the same solution that is put in hair removing lotions; hence you have to use neutralizer to stop the chemical process.

I think it is better to have this sort of thing done by a professional.
Hair straighteners have metal plates that heat up. If your hair is really frizzy, u should get a ceramic straightener, becuase they get really hot and leave ur hair really nice and sleek! A salon quality straightener can be up to $300, but u can get a decent one for $100 if u shop around=]. Just don't use it every day, because it can dry out hair and damage it. Make sure to condition it everyday if you straighten a lot. If you straighten the night before with a good straightener, it may still look a little like 'bedhead'. goodluck!
mine stays kinda straight overnight and i touch it up in the morning but i wouldnt put it in a ponytail cuz when i do it makes a big kink in my hair....
you could probably straighten it at night and then touch it up in the morning..i've done that before, and i have a friend with really frizzy hair who does that every day.

my one suggestion though is to not buy a big hulky one. even though it looks like it would save you time..it really doesnt, and it can make it really hard to staighten your hair towards the top. i made this mistake.

    good luck :]]
A good hair straightener will not damage your locks as much as you may think, take your time in finding a ceramic one that is a little pricier than the rest (youll be happy in the long run). Also, if you staighten your hair in the evening its a much, much, quiker process in the morning, but it will not stay COMPLETELY straight. GOOD LUCK im sure you will be way glad you got one!!
Hair-straighteners don't work on frizzy hair. If anything, it makes it worse, PLUS it damages it more than you think! Get anti-frizz conditioners and treaters. Garnier Fructis has some conditioners and shampoos that are for frizzy hair, and believe me it helped mine! And on the overnight thing, no, if you straighten your hair the night before, DON'T expect straight hair the next day. It will be all over the place from sleeping on it.
yes you can with the sedu it's the best top selling falt iron in the us today it really good but it's 118.00 to 129.95 but there great go to folica.com and see all the falt iron reviews and looka t the pix of the people hair
Their prices vary, and yes you can do it the night before. Just put it in a pony tail. It's very damaging, so don't do it often.

i honestly dont think theres a difference

but if youre looking for a good one, get the 2 inch chi. they sell them at ulta, theyre pretty expenseive though, but i promise its worth it! =]
The only difference is one might be a ceramic (better) and the other one is not.
thier the same thing people just choose to say it a little different--unless your talking about a hot comb and a flat iron

How do I clean hair straightners ceramic plates?

Hi. Can anyone tell me what i can use which is safe and doesn't harn the plates of hair straighners please? Mine have gone all brown which i assume is burn marks and maybe a build up of products which are on the hair.

    Thanks very much Ann.

Use a baby wipe. How do I clean hair straightners ceramic plates?
Spray them with hair spray while they are still hot, while hairspray is still wet wipe it off with a dry cloth. The hairspray will dissolve the buildup and then it can be wiped right off. I used that trick alot in Beauty School.
Clean the ceramic plates every so often with a damp cloth or cleaning wipe 鈥?be sure to use a non-abrasive cleaner as you don鈥檛 want to scratch the plates.
dont straghton your hair if it damp make sure its complettly dry and try gettin a new straighter

    Hair & Straightners!!!?

I am scared that i am recking my hair by straightining it so often! I dont like my natural hair! Is there anyway i can keep my hair straight all the time!!???

My hair is fairly long and i have long layers??Hair %26amp; Straightners!!!?

You can get your hair permanently straightened for like, a month, and I don't think it damages it.
    ceramic straightners.
straightening seems like the ony way for me, although the chi straighteners help prevent hair damage and help make your hair silky. they're quite pricey nut they're worth it:)
u can get it chemically done

ive had it done twice they didnt work but the third one did

u have to get the brazillian treatment

and trust me u are ruining ur hair by straightening it so often

in the last two yrs ive lost 2/3 of my hair

its used to be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO thick

    and now its normal-thin

    so i had to stop

ive been getting blood tests taken because doctors thought i had a thyroid problem due to all the hairloss

    seriously

    its not worth it

    braid it

    put it in a pony

    change it up

today for example, i took my hair while it was wet put it in a loose pony, and with the hands put the pony into a giant spiral and kept twisting it til it dried.

when i let it out i had gorgeous beachy waves

    lose the iron

    dont lose the hair.
The only way I can think of is by straightening it. If you don't want to wreck your hair then you should some products that protect it. I straighten my hair almost everyday and it's really smooth and it doesn't look damaged thanks to what I use.

I use the got2b crazysleek cream. It's an orange triangular bottle and after I just use a spray. For that there isn't really any brand I like the most.
    heat protector
If you dont like your hair natural, but don't want to ruin it, why not try to ';scrunch'; it? If you dont know what this is, its when you take wet/damp hair, put a little gel/curling spray in, and take your hair and squeeze it with your hands. It gives you a cute summery, beachy look, and no heat is required :) You could also try sleeping in sponge curlers at night if you like tighter curls.
My opinion, avoid chemical straighteners, use a thermal protectant spray and flat iron. FYI, I'm just guessing; I have no professional training whatsoever. :)
you can go to the hair salon and get this hair serum that makes your hair straight.
    don't straiten

    it all the time my

    sister did that and i

    got ruined so when you

    come out of the shower

    blow dry your hair instead

take one of those round brush's

and put the brush under it then you

take the blow dryer and put the blow dryer

against you hair, the brush should be at the

top of your hair then roll the brush down and the

blow dryer should be on the other side of your hair with is opposite from the brush make sure the blow dryer rolls down your hair with the brush it should be straight do that on

each side till all of your hair is straight

    hoped it worked

    Nikki
you can get it chemically done but that really expensive.
get a straight perm they last up to 6 months and its 150 depending on the lenght of your hair.

    Hair straightners?

I use hair straighner's everyday at the moment as my hair is quite short (i am in the process of growing out he layer's by visting the hairdresser's every 4-6 week's).

I use a good shampoo and conditionerpuls a ghd thermal heat protector but i blow dry.

My hair gets a littke dry between vist's to the hairdresser's,can anyone recomond a good treatment for dry hair?

I live in the uk.Hair straightners?
stop shampooing everyday. Hair has natural oils that will help. If you wash your hair every 2-3 days there should be less need to use heat to style which will also help.Hair straightners?
Before you blow dry use a cream, because you can't use cream on dry hair. then use a heat protectant spray.
VO5 Hot Oil Treatments every 2 weeks would work wonders on dry hair..

I also would reccomend Brocata Mosturizing Cream, you just put it all over your hair and put a shower cap on leave it for 20-30 mins. then wash it out, and you'll notice how soft and mosturized your hair is.

Also, try to air dry your hair as much as possible.. oh and shampoo/wash your hair every other day shampooing/washing it everyday causes you to removed essentials needed

    good luck =)
you could go to the drugstore and just get a hair mask. you use it once a week %26amp;They are really cheap about 10 dollars. They also have these little single application packages for 1 dollar, but i dont know if you have shoppers drugmart in the uk :s
Well, I'm trying to grow my hair out too. Its pretty short, but I want it to get longer for my wedding in August. I blow dry and use the Chi 5 days a week. All you really have to do is make sure you condition everyday and also use a leave in conditioner before you straighten. there's really no way to avoid the dryness, but if its just a little than its ok. Just dont stop the heavy conditioning. Don't use Pantene shampoo....it is the most acidic out of all the shampoos on the market.
i had the same problem. go to your hairdressers and ask for john frieda frizz-ease straightening potion and avec professional volumising vitamin treatment. you may not be able to get the john frieda stuff in your hairdressers, but they normally sell it in supermarkets. makes your hair shiny, smooth and soft. helps with frizz too.
well im not sure if they sell this product but i had the same problem use this stuff called thermasilk because it actually has silk in it that helps straightener damage like what i have hoped this helps
Paul Mitchell shampp oo super skinny serum
Try giving your hair an oil treatment every once in awhile. My mother has dry hair and I help her treat it. I could give you some other product names, but they're not shipped out to the UK. So the best advice I can give you is to use olive oil on your hair and let it set for say a half an hour if your hair is a little dry, but let it set for a solid hour if your hair is really dry. Then, wash it out and you'll want to use shampoo. It doesn't matter what kind of shampoo you use either. Also, try to slack up on washing your hair so much. At least go for 2 or 3 days in between washing your hair.

    Good Luck!
