How do i clean my hair straightners plates????

Hi All

I have put this questions to you all before but alas nothing seems to work! Maybe i should have cleaned them a long time before now but never really noticed how much was building up on them. I've tried soapy water, alcohol, even tried siff (which is a household cleaner) but nothing seems to shift it. I thought i would try the question again just incase some new people see this question and knows the answer! I really don't want to buy new straightners if i can help it. There must be something thats goes really deep and gets the build up off!!! I just can't think of what else to try.

Heres hoping

Hmm ok. I had to do this to my straighter..what is that gunk anyways? lol. Heat ur straightner up, grab a lemon or some lemon juice and put alot on a warm damp (not soaking wet) wash cloth and srub your plates with it, if lemon juice doesnt work use vineger, if vinegar doesnt work use hydrigen peroxided. The lemon juice worked for me! Hope this helps! How do i clean my hair straightners plates????
I clean my iron while its still hot... it makes the stuff come off easier. and I use a dry piece of tissue, napkin, or a rag. A rag is better. do not wet your cloth it while its still plugged.
Ghd does iron oil. Heat the irons apply the oil and then remove with paper towel. Careful not to burn yourself.
my sister tried straightening her barbie doll, so i got plastic al over my old straightners! =(
try this..

The ghd hair doctor replies: 鈥淭his is a good question don't forget your iron needs cleaning, just like anything else! Spray a light mist of clear window cleaner onto your iron when it is cool, and wipe with a soft cloth until completely dry

hope this helps
Hey. heat the straightener up and get a damp cloth, making sure it is quiet thick so you dont burn yourself and just wipe the surface of the plates.
