Can You Take Hair Straightners in hand luggage?

Im flying from Stanstard to Dublin soon, and am wondering if you can take hair Straightners in hand luggage.

(Although I do not understand why you would, as they are bulky and you look nice with a little curl in your hair.)

Liquids can be taken if the container is no bigger than 100 ml, they have to go in your clear plastic bag.Can You Take Hair Straightners in hand luggage?
As long as the liquids do not exceed a total of 3 ounces. Sorry, don't know the metric equivalent.
