I've just given the same advise to someone who asked a similar question, I personally like the flicked-out look.
It can formal or casual and simply gives you that edgy looks.

It can be achieved with Straighteners, or you can use a big soft round brush and a blow dryer.
It looks great on most people, the more layers you have, the better.
